| Customer Reviews: Awesome Monitor... Excellent value for every penny December 30, 2009 Raja Jeevagan (Surrey, England) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is by far the excellent external monitor I've seen. With its unique photo frame like tilt, alignment with the laptop screen can be made in a jiffy. Also USB connectivity helps a lot since I can hook up the VGA to my TV, thus adding another monitor.. mind boggling...
Great for use with laptop! December 22, 2009 Refusenik (London) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this to use with my Dell laptop. It worked fine out of the box with the DVI cable (haven't tried connecting with the USB cable). The screen is big enough to work on (bigger than my laptop screen, in fact) and picture quality is good. You can adjust the tilt of the screen to match the angle of your laptop screen and the Samsung screen sits flat on the desk so the monitor heights are the same.
One gripe is that the buttons controlling brightness, etc. are touch-sensitive and seem to be a bit *too* sensitive, i.e. they react even when you lightly brush over them by accident. Still, you probably won't need to go near these buttons anyway in the normal course of use, so not too much of a problem.
Would recommend for anyone who wants to add an extra monitor to their laptop setup.
Wasted potential... February 21, 2010 S. Bowers (Middlesex, England) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Brought this as a replacement for a knackered Laptop screen but unfortunately it was faulty (touch controls seemed to get locked into a loop that could only be reset by turning off and on again). In trying to cure the problem I ended up reading through the Release Notes from the Samsung site and realised this was basically a monitor with a lot of potential issues of which I didn't want be a victim of so I returned it for a full refund. Shame it never went as well as it looked....
Do not buy if you have a Windows 7 computer with no VGA July 16, 2010 Jack 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this monitor a couple of months ago to use on a Windows 7 machine. I was surprised that the software that accompanied the monitor claimed 'not to support my operating system' but luckily my plugging in the VGA lead the monitor worked okay.
However, I had this computer stolen and replaced it with a more modern laptop with Win 7 again; no VGA input this time however. Following a lengthy hold and then phone call with Samsung customer services, it appears that this monitor DOES NOT SUPPORT WINDOWS 7 USB connectivity. It seems that they haven't written a driver.
You are most likely to want a monitor like this if you have a small laptop, and a small laptop is less likely to have a VGA connection.
